7-9

Project on a Spanish speaking country
Please hand out project packs & get them writing names on them. Impress upon them that these go back in the box at the end – could you please keep hold of these packs?

  • Get them choosing a country to study - there's a list of options on the first page. It would be good to have a broad range of countries rather than everybody studying Mexico for example, so could you guide them in that direction? Could you make a note of their choices please - just on a piece of paper that you bung in the box with the projects. I'd like to make sure they don't write half a page on 9 different countries so it would be good to keep track.

Please don't let them speed too far ahead if they haven't completed previous sections thoroughly. They shouldn't be moving onto any new page until all previous pages have been properly completed.

Lesson7: In this lesson I want them to work on the fact file & the food section please.

  • The pack is in Spanish but with English translations so should be pretty clear. Basically, they Google the info they need to fill in the fact file and fill it in in English. So they will be Googling info on the capital, flag (this is what colours are for), population, names of cities, mountain ranges & lakes etc ..
  • For the food file they need to find a recipe for a dish unique to their chosen country and write it out in the pack. No they can't just print it & glue it in (I guarantee someone will ask) As part of the food file section they should look at the food section of the mini dictionary at the end of the pack and find out what each of the phrases there mean and write the English in.

Lesson 8: In this lesson I want them to work on the sport & the ciudad section as well as the wildlife section please.

  • Complete the national sport section - they should choose the most popular sport for the country they are studying and research the necessary details to fill in the page.
  • Complete the ciudad (city) section - they should choose a major city in the country they are studying and research the necessary details to fill in the page.
  • Complete the wildlife section (see instructions on inside front cover of booklet)

Lesson 9: In this lesson I want them to work on the wildlife section & the fashion file & the music file please. YOU WILL NEED HEADPHONES THIS WEEK - THESE CAN BE FOUND IN AN ORANGE SAINSBURY'S BAG IN THE OFFICE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE

  • Complete the fashion file  (see instructions on inside front cover of booklet)

·         Complete the music file For this they need to find a song from their country of choice NOT JUST ANYTHING IN SPANISH. Then they need to Google the necessary info about both song & artist to fill in that section of the booklet. There is a section for them to fill in favourite lyrics - be aware that some reggaeton lyrics might interest them more than is necessarily healthy. I would preface this section with the idea that if they wouldn't want their nan to read the lyrics I don't want to read them either. Or you could just steer them away from the lyrics section of the page altogether - I will leave it to your professional judgement!

At the end of this lesson please take in the completed booklets. We will award a proze for the best job done!
