LAMDA

What is LAMDA?

LAMDA is the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. The Academy run a suite of exams that encourage students to develop performance or speaking skills. Established in the 1880’s, the exams are completed all over the world by hundreds of thousands of people each year. LAMDA exams have a long-held reputation for developing confident and articulate speakers.

LAMDA at KTS

We are proud to offer students the opportunity to complete a LAMDA Performance Exam. Available to students in years 8, 9 and 10, students meet with an external tutor once a week during lunch or after school to prepare for an exam in the summer term.

We are fortunate to have a fantastic relationship with our tutors, Nicki Walley and Lois Reilly. They knowledgably support our students every step along the way to prepare for exams.

Commitment and Cost

Those students that opt to complete a LAMDA exam course, will need to commit to a tuition session held once a week, in school, from September until May. Students will have a mock exam with their LAMDA tutor before the real exam in May. Students are examined by an external LAMDA examiner.

Students will also be expected to prepare between sessions by learning lines, completing research, reading scripts and watching performance recordings or extracts.

There is a cost to participate in LAMDA which will include tuition costs and exam entry. These costs are spread across the year with payments required before the start of each term.

For more information about the cost of LAMDA tuition, please email Mrs Brewer.
